Yuanyang County is located in the province of Yunnan, China. In the town of Old Yuanyang where the Hani minority lives, atop a ridge of the Ailao mountain range with an elevation of around 1,570 meter, the vast mountainous area have been cultivated into terraced rice paddies for at least the past 1,300 years by the Hani people.
This region in Yuanyang County has earned itself a great name in the list of scenic wonders due to its spectacular rice terraces. However, despite Yuanyang's natural beauty and scenic landscape, mass tourism hasn't reached this part of Yunnan. It is a remote location that lacks a nearby airport and at times quite inaccessible due to bad road conditions. If accessibility can be overcomed, this place would be a photographers heaven and a great place to admire its beauty.
