The Hanging Temple (悬空寺) of Heng Mountain was built more than 1,500 years ago on a cliff 75 meter above the ground. Believed to be built during the late Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534AD) by a monk called Liao Ran and restored during the 1900s. The temple hangs on the side of the Heng Mountain and supported beneath by a few wooden poles.
This gravity-defying Hanging Temple has 40 chambers connected by a network of passageways and there are three religions, Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism worshiped here.
