
The Water Cube or officially known as The Beijing National Aquatics Center, was built for the 2008 Summer Olympics on the Olympic Green in the city Beijing. Swimmers at the summer Olympics broke 25 world records that was held at the Water Cube.
Although called a Water Cube, the structure is actually a rectangular building that measures 178 meter (584 feet) by 178 meter, and 31 meter (102 feet) high. The exterior of the building is made of 4,000 ETFE bubbles, some as large as 9.1 meter across. The Water Cube has a capacity of 17,000.
The Watercube is open to the public on certain days of the week and it is also used for sound and light shows during the summer.
