
Beijing has created The World Chocolate Wonderland Theme Park that is located on the north side of the Bird's Nest Stadium in the Olympic Park. Open to the public on the 29th January 2010, this chocolate theme park will stay open till 10th April 2010 when temperatures will be too high for the 80 tonnes of chocolate on display.
About 100 pastry chefs from the renowned pastry school, Wang Sen, in southern China's Suzhou city had helped created the hundreds of chocolate display. The chocolate theme park will include five indoor halls consisting the World's Chocolate Hall, World's Candy Hall, Wonderland Theme Hall, Sweet Experience Hall and Sweet Gift Hall. There is also an outdoor activity area where there are Sweet Stages and a Sweet Shopping Street.
Visitors at the theme park also have the hands-on opportunity to make chocolate with direct coaching from the chefs.
The chocolate theme park features several of China's historical and cultural symbols that include a 12 meter long chocolate replica of the Great Wall, an army of 560 terracotta soldiers that is made of chocolate, an original sized traditional chinese painting of Panorama Along the Upper River During the Qingming Festival and the Dunhuang Caves. There is also a life-size BMW car which required 2 tonnes of dark chocolate and 10 pastry chefs, two months to complete.
The entrance fee to this chocolate theme park cost 80 yuan that can be bought at ticket booths located on-site.
